OUR SERVICES

Psychiatric care shaped around the person, not just the presentation.

We provide psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, treatment and ongoing care for children, adolescents and adults. Some people come with a clear question or referral; others are looking for help understanding what is happening and what might help next.

WHO WE WORK WITH

Care across different stages of life.

We work with children, adolescents and adults, taking into account the different needs, experiences and circumstances that come with each stage of life.

Care that looks at the whole child.

We assess and support children experiencing emotional, developmental, behavioural and mental health difficulties. The process considers the child's development, physical and mental health, family circumstances, education and wider environment.

Areas may include anxiety and mood difficulties, OCD and trauma-related difficulties, eating disorders, ADHD, autism spectrum conditions and complex or overlapping presentations.

CORE CLINICAL SERVICES

Specialist psychiatric care, based on what is needed.

GENERAL PSYCHIATRIC ASSESSMENT & TREATMENT

Careful assessment and treatment when the picture is not yet clear.

A general psychiatric assessment may be helpful when symptoms are affecting day-to-day life, a diagnosis is uncertain, treatment is not helping as expected, different difficulties appear to overlap or specialist clinical input is needed.

The assessment considers the wider clinical picture before your consultant explains their formulation and discusses the most appropriate next steps. Where treatment is recommended, this may include medication, treatment planning, follow-up, collaborative care or referral to another professional.

May include:

  • Psychiatric assessment

  • Diagnosis and clinical formulation

  • Treatment planning

  • Medication review and management, where appropriate

  • Follow-up and ongoing psychiatric care

  • Liaison with GPs or other professionals, with consent

ADHD & AUTISM ASSESSMENTS

An assessment should give you more than a label.

We provide careful, evidence-based ADHD and autism assessments for children, adolescents and adults. The purpose is not simply to reach a diagnostic decision, but to understand the person's experience and establish what support may be useful.

Depending on age, circumstances and the clinical question, assessment may include:

  • Clinical interviews

  • Developmental and medical history

  • Validated questionnaires

  • Information from family members, schools or other professionals where relevant

  • Previous reports and supporting clinical information

  • Objective attention testing where clinically appropriate

  • Follow-up recommendations and planning

QbTest

QbTest may be used as part of some ADHD assessments or medication reviews where clinically appropriate. It provides objective information relating to attention, activity and impulsivity and is interpreted alongside the broader clinical assessment.

After the assessment, the consultant will explain their clinical conclusions and recommendations. Depending on the outcome, this may include treatment planning, medication review, practical recommendations, educational guidance, liaison with a GP or signposting to other appropriate support.

Ongoing Care

Care does not necessarily end with the assessment.

Where ongoing psychiatric care is recommended, we can provide medication review, monitoring, treatment planning and follow-up. With consent, we can also share relevant information with a GP or other professionals involved in care.

SECOND OPINIONS

A calm, independent review.

A second opinion may be helpful when an existing diagnosis, treatment plan or medication no longer feels clear. We review the relevant history and clinical information, discuss current concerns and provide independent recommendations for the next stage of care.

COLLABORATIVE SUPPORT

The right support is not always psychiatric.

Where another form of input would be more appropriate, we can recommend or work alongside trusted professionals in psychology, psychotherapy, nutrition and other relevant areas.
