Dr Amy Martin

Consultant Psychiatrist

I am a Consultant Psychiatrist in General Adult and Addictions psychiatry. My main areas of expertise are in addictions and adult mental health conditions, such as, anxiety, mood disorders, psychosis, personality disorder and neurodevelopmental conditions such as autism spectrum disorder or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). I graduated from the University of Aberdeen in 2013 with Honours. I completed my specialist psychiatry training in the South East of Scotland.

In the NHS I work as a Consultant Psychiatrist. Alongside my clinical work I am involved in teaching and training. This includes providing teaching for the MRCPsych South East Scotland training programme, delivering training for GPs, medical students, and other health professionals.

I consider it a privilege to learn about the lives of others. Furthermore, I believe that everyone has strengths, no matter how they are feeling. My desire to become a psychiatrist, and latterly work in addictions, comes from an aspiration to ensure everyone can access high quality care and treatment. I strive to reduce the stigma associated with seeking support from a psychiatrist. I provide a non-judgemental approach, taking time to listen to the individual and to discuss how best to provide an evidence-based treatment plan.
